چکیده

A non-connected, Hausdorff space with a countable network has a connected Hausdorff-subtopology iff the space is not-H-closed. This result answers two questions posed by Tkačenko, Tkachuk, Uspenskij, and Wilson [Comment. Math. Univ. Carolinae 37 (1996), 825–841]. A non-H-closed, Hausdorff space with countable π-weight and no connected, Hausdorff subtopology is provided.

Characterizing Continuity by Preserving Compactness and Connectedness

Let us call a function f from a space X into a space Y preserving if the image of every compact subspace of X is compact in Y and the image of every connected subspace of X is connected in Y . By elementary theorems a continuous function is always preserving. Evelyn R. McMillan [6] proved in 1970 that if X is Hausdorff, locally connected and Frèchet, Y is Hausdorff, then the converse is also tr...

Homogeneous Countable Connected Hausdorff Spaces

In 1925, P. Urysohn gave an example of a countable connected Hausdorff space [4]. Other examples have been contributed by R. Bing [l], M. Brown [2], and E. Hewitt [3]. Relatively few of the properties of such spaces have been examined. In this paper the question of homogeneity is studied. Theorem I shows that there exists a bihomogeneous countable connected Hausdorff space. Theorems II and III ...

Countable Connected Hausdorff and Urysohn Bunches of Arcs in the Plane

In this paper, we answer a question by Krasinkiewicz, Reńska and Sobolewski by constructing countable connected Hausdorff and Urysohn spaces as quotient spaces of bunches of arcs in the plane. We also consider a generalization of graphs by allowing vertices to be continua and replacing edges by not necessarily connected sets. We require only that two “vertices” be in the same quasi-component of...

Finite Connected H-spaces Are Contractible

The non-Hausdorff suspension of the one-sphere S1 of complex numbers fails to model the group’s continuous multiplication. Moreover, finite connected H-spaces are contractible, and therefore cannot model infinite connected non-contractible H-spaces. For an H-space and a finite model of the topology, the multiplication can be realized on the finite model after barycentric subdivision.
